iPhone shortcut to camera

Be sure to upgrade IOS to actual versions. Upgrades all ways brings improvements. 

If I remember well, in IOS 5 version , for getting camera with shortcut, there was combination that I forgot, because in IOS 5.1, you can get to your camera fast without unlocking your screen :)
After upgrade, camera icon will appear on locked screen. Just press and pull up and your camera is ready to shoot!
